  • Mid-September, things are rollin'

As we roll into mid-September I and put the 2009 YMV's to bed I can't believe the amount of work there seems to be to kick-start 2010.  Though we have a foundation to build upon from 2009 (not creating everything from scratch), it seems there is even more work to do this fall then there was last fall?  How can this be?

Over the last month I have been writing the Prospectus (brochure) for 2010.  Studying for and outlining not just the Mission Prep Workbook (entitled Story), but also doing some preliminary work on RoadGrip and talking about Merge as well.  In addition I have already conducted about five meetings with other Youth Leaders about the 2010 YMV's (preliminary "sales").  This is all exciting stuff.

During the month of September I will have a couple trips (just got back from one in CA) and have another to GA (for the National Network of Youth Ministries) and will be purchasing tickets for trips to CO, CA, and TX for the fall.

I'd sure appreciate your prayers for these matters!  We are excited about what has happened, but I feel God has soooo much more in store for Youthmark in 2010!

    Grace,
    Brian

  • September Prayer

I so appreciate the prayer support we have received at Youthmark.  It is very evident that the Lord chose to answer the prayers of His people. As I read through these blogs and read the very specific prayer requests that were lifted I am blown away by His faithfulness to His children.

Along those lines, could you pray for the following items?

    1. For the finishing touches on the 2010 YMV Prospectus.  We are taking it to print as early as this weekend for fall marketing which has already started.

    2. For trips this month to CA and GA for Youthmark purposes.

    3. For my speaking at EXPOSED on October 10.  Check out the information I just wrote about here.

    4. For Kirk Peteresen in Portland, he is going to be representing Youthmark to the churches in SW Washington and all of Oregon.  Pray for his connection and communication with the leaders he gets to meet.

    5. For the writing of Story: The Mission Prep Workbook for 2010 YMV's.

I can't wait to hit the ground running as the brochures come off the press this next week.  It'll be exciting to meet with Pastors, youth leaders and students who are excited about being missional here and now!

    Grace,
    Brian

  • Check It Out!

  • Hub #6: The Landing

Here's a fun little twist.  Last week Kirk Petersen had the privilege of launching the last three mission teams for this summers YMV's.  He took his picture (but not from a Starbucks, oh the nerve...).  Well, I'm back, with the honor of landing these three wonderful teams who just finished their missions to Montana.

    Photo 32

The teams are currently out for their "Last Supper."  Participants are being blessed with words of encouragement and giving prayer requests for their missions ahead (back home).  We'll gather again at 9:00 PM for a time of worship through song, testimony and prayer!

As we wind down this summer of Youthmark Missions, please be in prayer for all of the teens, staff and recipients.  I will blog my thoughts on this summers trips in a sequence of posts over the next couple weeks.  After that I plan on blogging from this site on a weekly basis, while I blog more frequently on my other blog here.

Thanks for your prayers!  Don't forget about the ReLAUNCH next Sunday (8.30.09)--Read previous post.

    Grace,

    Brian

  • Email Sent

Hey blog readers, here is a copy of an email I sent to all the Western WA YMV leaders, I post this because I want you to know if you're interested in coming, we'd love to have you!

    YMV Friends!

A couple weeks ago I had an idea, I know, dangerous!  And the idea has now come to fruition and I want you to spread the word because this could be simply FANTASTIC!
On Sunday night, August 30, Youthmark will be hosting an event, "ReLAUNCH"  at Cutters Point Coffee in Covington (in the Home Depot parking lot) from 7:00 to 9:00 PM (program 7:30 to 8:15 ish for teams that need to leave early). We will have opportunity for students to share stories of their mission (at home and on the field), share pictures, encourage one another and pray for one another.  We're planning on some fantastic worship through song as well!  This is a PEP RALLY as we prepare to reach our campus, club and community for Christ!
Here's the great scoop.  All coffee and blended drinks are being provided at 50% off (thanks Cutters!). Instead of paying $4 for a latte, we'll be able to get them at 50% off, but please encourage students to tip well (I'd suggest a $1) so that we can bless the socks off of the baristas (talk about a great witnessing opportunity).
The whole idea behind this event is to Relaunch our students/staff to the mission we have in our own Jerusalem.  Don't hesitate to use this as a motivation to students who didn't do the trip this year, they should come and get motivated for the mission at home!
I did a little research and for the teams based in Western WA the drive (especially on a Sunday evening) is less than 60 minutes away for our teams the farthest away (okay, Chehalis is 76 minutes, but sill...).
A couple things I could use from you:
    1. Do you feel like you or some of your team/youth group will come?  Guesstimate the # (parents welcome too)
    2. Could you send me 10-12 of your favorite pictures from the trip via email (regardless of your attendance) (send them in a medium to high resolution).
I really hope you can make it, Cutters Point doesn't close until 7:00 so we can't do the event until then, but don't hesitate to get your team here a little earlier if they want some extended fellowship.  We'll really try to honor the program stuff ending around 8:15ish so that the teams that have a drive can take off if they need to.  There is a Red Robin and a few other restaurants in the complex if you wanted to make an evening of it!  By program I really mean, worship, sharing, and a brief charge, the rest will be fellowship, reunion and prayer!
Get back to me.  I have listed the particulars by way of review below.
Text. Facebook message. Email and announce!
Even if you as the Leader can't make it, spread the word your students/staff may still want to come!
    Grace,
    Brian

  • So Encouraged!

The three teams who are out this week have been such an area of praise in my life!  Each day I have been following them on the blogs and I am just drawn to praise as I read of the wonderful things the Lord is doing in and through them!

I would appreciate your continued prayer (and praise) for these groups! And I would love it if you would lift me up today as I begin meetings with Youth Leaders in regard to the 2010 Youthmark Mission Ventures!  I have four such meetings today!

    Grace,
    Brian

  • Kirk Launching YMV #6

As I sit in my vacation bedroom in Sunriver, OR, I am praying for the Youthmark Mission Venture Launch #6!  Kirk Petersen who will be representing Youthmark in Oregon in 2009-2010 is handling the launch so that (1) I can be on this great vacation with my extended family and (2) so that he can fine-tune his YMV leadership for the upcoming mission year.

Here is Kirk waiting in Spokane for the teams to arrive... I can't believe he broke tradition and did it some place other than Starbucks!  Ha!

We have four churches heading out this week to three communities.  They are:

Snohomish Free Methodist and Living Hope Christian Fellowship of Renton are teaming to go to Philipsburg, MT.

Rose Hill Presbyterian Church is heading to Lolo, MT.

Sound Life Church of Tacoma is heading to Thompson Falls, MT.

Please pray for each of these teams as they head out this week and follow them on their blogs!

    Grace,
    Brian

  • Top Five Rural Places

I'm doing a blog series on my other blog that may be of interest to the readers who specifically check this blog.

I am doing a "Top 5" series and the post today has to do with my top 5 rural towns I have been a part of for missions!

    Check it out here!

  • Praying for Colorado and Montana (and much more)

    Hello Friends!

I so appreciate your faithful prayers for Youthmark and wanted to pass on a few specific requests.

    1. We have a team out right now in Kittredge, CO.  Click here to follow Jared and his Mountain View Church (Glenwood Springs, CO).

    2. Pray for the many details that still are being worked through with the Living Hope team that changed towns and is going to Philipsburg, MT.  Great stuff, we really see the hand of God moving, but it has created some unique situations where we are really relying on Him to answer the specifics!

    3. Pray for the writing of the 2010 Mission Prep Workbook.

    4. Please pray for the promotional materials production this month for 2010 as well.  Meeting with video guy for production of a short promo video.  We are also working on the prospectus (brochure) for 2010.

    5. Be in prayer for Kirk Petersen who will be leading the Launch of the Aug. 14-23 mission trips.  His first full-leadership responsibility for Youthmark!

Last, please be in prayer for the 2009 participants, we pray that this was not just a mission trip and that they are living it out at home!  Personally I am tired of mission experiences being just a short term experience, I'd like to see them lived out full-time at home!

    Grace,

    Brian
