Today is the day - our first full day of ministry in the community. We have been doing ministry projects throughout the city. Some have chopped wood, others have installed metal roofs, and still others have combed the city looking for kids to invite to tonight's activities / worship. The streets were pretty quiet. Many of the tribal kids (we are in the middle of an Indian reservation) are gone to a Pow Wow in a nearby town. That did not dampen our kids spirits one bit. They just kept searching from house to house. They are so eager to find anyone to invite.
These kids are amazing. You parents would be so proud to see them in action. They have really connected with the locals. We have many of the kids here that will not leave our side. It is so cool to see them getting excited about their church and their youth program. It is as if all of a sudden it is cool to be here with other believers.
I get choked up watching our kids ministering to any and every person that God sends our way. It has reminded me that this is how God expects the church to behave 365 days a year...not just on a mission trip to another state. These kids are intentional in what they do. They know their time is limited here and they want to squeeze everything they can out of every single opportunity. Isn't that what the Bible means when it tells us to "number our days" and to "make the most of every opportunity."?? I think so.
Keep praying for us. We are having a ball and the funnest part is watching God work all around us. Thanks for keeping up with all that is going on. Check back soon and we will have more to report.
We are about to kick off our first outreach event to the community. So, keep us in your prayers and pray specifically that God would send those He wants us to reach with the great news of Jesus' love.
