Serving with YWAM Nicoya, your team will play a key role in assisting Costa Rican nationals to reach their own people with the Gospel (Mission51!). Ministry opportunities include Bible distribution, projects in impoverished areas, teaching English in public schools, and encouraging fellow believers in this beautiful Central America nation!
Days are filled with fantastic opportunities to serve together as a team. One major area of emphasis come with our commitment to distributing a Bible to EVERY home in the region of Guanacaste. To date nearly one-quarter of the estimated 94,000 bibles have been distributed through a relational door-to-door strategy.
What Should We Anticipate?
Many of these villages have never had a Bible in their home and the peoples knowledge of God is dependent upon the faith heritage (if any) of their forefathers. By going door-to-door with provided translators, your team members will engage the people that make up this hospitable culture by offering the free gift of God’s Word. Conversations typically move from giving of the gift to matters of the family and sharing prayer requests.
Having gained access to the local schools, teams are often asked to provide English classes to the young students. Kids Clubs in the park and screenings of some of the choice Christian films have led to fantastic evangelism opportunities for our teams.
Most of your evenings will be spent back at the YWAM base enjoying Costa Rica’s finest foods (the food is INCREDIBLE at the base) and sipping the fantastic coffee before engaging as a team in a family time (debriefing your day). However, you’ll likely be challenged to a futbol match or two at a local indoor soccer facility! Come prepared to be schooled in the most played international sport!
