  • Coming Home!

What a trip! God has really blessed all of us this week. We are so excited to be home and tell you all the exciting things God did through us. We are taking a flight from Juneau to Seatle where Jonda will separate from us to see her mom and the rest of us will be arriving in Denver around 430. We should make it to the church by 6 tonight. See you soon!!!!

    Prayer Requests:

    -A safe trip home!

  • Good Morning!

We are starting the day awfully early. Last night was a blessing from God! We had a ton of fun at Blind Slue (a park with water and a bridge). Some of us jumped off the bridge into the water. It was a lot of fun. We had one of the summer missionaries give her testimony and then Pastor Don shared his with us. We had a few people come to Christ last night. In total we had 8 people come to Christ and an average of 50 people at the park a night.

After the park we came back to the church and started our girl's night. We started with a team time with the boys as well. We sang songs and talked about what we have learned from this trip. Even some of the girls shared what they have learned this week. After that we had brownies and ice cream. We talked about EVERYTHING and watched a movie and painted our nails! What a girls night! The girls learned that you can have fun by just being together and hanging out!

We leave for Juneau in about 2 hours and we are both excited and sad! It will be hard to say good bye to everyone! Even now as I write this I am sad to think that we have to leave some of our new friends. But we are super excited to sleep in a bed tonight!!!!!!!

    Prayer Requests:

-A safe trip back to Juneau.

-That this church and the community around it can continue to grow and thrive in the Lord when we leave.

    Good Afternoon Everyone!
Yesterday went really well. VBS was full of energy and learning. The kids do not want to leave at the end of the day. Out at sandy we had around 50 people. We played some great worship time last night. Cody and Ryan sang “Brian’s Dog” for us (ask them to sing it to you when they come home, it’s so funny). Then we sang some songs with motions and everyone really enjoyed them. Then David came up and gave his testimony. Carrie also shared her testimony. After their testimonies we prayed about

We had 4 new families come to the nights and they are interested in joining the church. 2 of the families are talking about joining and 2 are starting to like what’s happening with the church and their interest in the church has increased.

    Prayer Requests:

-Pray for the 4 families that are thinking about joining First Baptist Church here.

-Tonight we are going to a new park and then after that we have our girl’s night! Pray that the girls can keep up the energy for a great girl’s night and that we can be good examples of how being a Christian can be so much fun!

    Good Afternoon!

The last 2 days have been so jam packed and fun!  God is really working in the lives of everyone here! Last night we had 4 people come to Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of those stories is from our own team. Here is Chaz to tell you his story:

Cody had just finished his testimony and I was sitting at the table with my head in my arms.  I was thinking  about how Cody was saying how he once had a fake relationship with God. How he acted to be worshipping and loving him on the outside, but on the inside he was hollow and not believing all the way. Then I realized that was exactly the way I was feeling. I had been “saved” when I was nine years old. My dad came down to my room and told me I had to make a certain prayer to God and then I could go to heaven. I thought that was cool so I told some guy up in the sky that I believed his son came down to earth and lived a perfect life then died for our sins. But I was so young I didn’t know what I was doing at the time. I didn’t mean the prayer. But this time under the shelter, I made the prayer again. I told God every little thing I had ever done wrong in my life and how I was a sinner and totally messed up. I didn’t want a fake relationship with God. I wanted him to be a bigger part of my life. After maybe twenty minutes of praying more sincerely than I ever have before, I started crying. I was crying because I was happy. So Tom came over and asked to walk with me to the other shelter. I then explained what’s going on and he thought that was the coolest thing on earth. I did too. On July 13th, 2010 I was forgiven by Jesus Christ of all my sins in Petersburg, Alaska at Sandy Beach Park a little bit after 9:20 P.M. I feel like an empty hole in my life has been filled. I hope now I can be a better, happier person and follow the word of Jesus Christ. I hope that others can be touched by my story and can perhaps be led to the light. This was Chazery Steven Close, PEACE OUT.

We also had 3 other Petersburg  teens (Katie, Ben, and John) come to Christ! How amazing is that!?!?! God is really working in our lives. We had 48 people at the park last night. That is great!

    Prayer Requests:

-Chaz as he starts his walk with God. As well as Katie, Ben, and John.

-Jillian was running a fever last night and didn’t sleep well. Pray that she will recover quickly and have enough energy to go through the rest of the week.

-The girls are going to host a girl’s night in on Thursday Night after the barbeque. They are going to do things like nails and hair and watch movies. Pray for the girls as they get more and more exhausted. We will need extra energy to get through an all nighter with the girls here in Petersburg.

  • Monday

    Good Afternoon Everyone!

As I write this, we are sitting at the Coastal Cold Storage (seafood storage and resturant). Chaz and David are devouring Alaskan King Crab! Today is starting out amazing! VBS was so great! The summer missionaries here that are doing VBS with us are so great. The kids have been amazing. They have really responded to our ministry. This morning in the opening of VBS, we met a girl named Martha. She is going into 4th grade and she was just begging for more love and attention. At the end of the day she new almost everyones name and gave most of us a hug good bye. Chaz had a little girl in the pre-school room named Becky and she was a handful. She wouldn't stop moving for anything but at the end of the day when her mom came to get her she refused to go with her. Martha told her mom that she wanted to stay with us and not ever go home.

Tonight we are going to be back at Sandy Beach and we are so excited. We know of a few teens that are going to be there and we are praying for more and more interest.

    Prayer Requests:

-More interest in the mission at the beach. We have about 10+ teens so far but would like to see more people come.

    Prayer Requests:

-We are going into the community to do our quite times. We would like it if you would pray for the interest of the people around us as we do them and hopefully it will spark so interest in the people.

-Please pray that we will open doors and communication right off the bat with people about Jesus and not wait for the last few days to talk about Him with these people.

  • Day 1

    Good Afternoon!

So, we made it safely to Petersburg yesterday! YAY!!!! When we got here we had some time to eat lunch and take showers... Boy we were gross from 2 days of not showers. Anyway, When we were done with showers we went out into the community and got a feel for it. After supper we went out and prayer walked the few blocks around the schools and church. I (Jillian) Got into a great conversation with some people that work at the cannery here. There were 2 poeple sitting at a table. Brandy and Brian. I sat down and because I have a HUGE brace on, they asked what happened. We got into a good conversation about things we like to do and where we were from. They said that since they dont work on Sunday they would come by the church and check it out. Great! God is really using my knee! The thing that Brandy and Brian asked for was some prayers. They asked that we all pray that the cannnery gets enough fish to keep them in work. So I would ask that all of you pray that not only they get enough fish to keep them going but so much fish that they are just fully amazed at what God is doing there for them.

  • We made it!

Today was great! We made it safely to Petersburg! Mostly everyone is showered and clean (execpt the boys) Gross! We are getting to knowthe people here and loving every minute we spend here! The views are amazing! We are in a rush to get this up because we are at the Library now and it closes in one minute!

We will let you know more tomorrow!

    Thanks for your prayers!
