  • Homecoming

    Hello,

The Edgewood Northern California team arrived safely home yesterday afternoon.  We appreciate your prayers while we were away.  We were gone for 225 hours (more than nine days).  During that time, our team was challenged in a number of ways and given the opportunity to do things that stretched us.  I would love to give you more details about all that happened, but then you would miss out on the experience we hope to share with you on Sunday, August 9th at 6:00 PM as we present the trip to our home church.  We hope you will come to our team report at Edgewood Baptist Church in Edmonds, WA so you can hear from each individual about how God used this time in his or her life and in the lives of others.

I am sure you are wondering...what did they do?  We organized youth activities in the school across the street from the church, hosted a community BBQ, built a deck, lengthened a handrail, added siding, painted part of the church, walked through the community passing out flyers, chopped down trees, pruned a troublesome tree near a carport, attended worship service, and more.  More important than any of these human activities is what God did (and continues to do) in and through them.  To hear more about that, you'll need to come Sunday, August 9th, at 6:00 PM to Edgewood Baptist Church to be a part of our team report.  I hope you can make it!

  • Wednesday Update

    Hello!

Things are going well in Shasta.  Last night we had a good turn out at the park and had the opportunity to share with them (over popsicles) that Jesus Christ loves them unconditionally.  Today we will be hosting a community BBQ at the church and are looking forward to God's blessing on that event.  Please continue to pray for health and energy in the heat.  Service projects are underway, with one completed yesterday (extending a handrail for a woman to make the trip from her car to the door of her house more safely).

Here are a couple pictures of recent events:IMG_0240IMG_0103

Thank you for your prayers, please ask God to use us for His glory here!

  • In Shasta, Church and first youth night!

    Hello All,

Today we attended Sunday School and Worship at Shasta Community Church.  Our contact for this adventure and Shasta's Youth Pastor, Josh, taught Sunday School and did a great job communicating our roles as representatives of God on Earth.  We were blessed with a message from missionaries to India during the worship service and are excited about tonight's first youth night, underway as I type!  Dave just arrived with a report that there are 8 to 10 students taking part with our team and looking forward to the ice cream bars we will be bringing back to them.

We appreciate your prayers for health, safety, effectiveness, and guidance.  Our team is looking forward to what God will do this week!

  • California Here We Come!!!!

    SmileGood Day To You,

We are moments away from leaving and the team is totally excited to see God move and work and chalenge and grow us.  As we had a prayer time with the families this morning we looked at Ephesians 2:1-10.  It speaks about we as Christ followers being his Workmanship.  We are each unique masterpieces that God created for His glory.  We are works of art that display His awesomeness.  We are so valuable to Him that he sent Jesus to redeem us.  One writer said itr this way: "He redeemed us so that our good works would showcase the brilliant colors of His redemption and grace, and draw a world in darkness to the light of His love."  What an incredible word picture of the value of each one of us.

Please pray for us today as we travel that we would have safety andt that we would display the brilliant colors of His redemption and grace.

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • Launch Date July 17....Tomorrow

    WinkRighteo And Ready to Go!

There is much left to do today to be ready for our departure on Friday but I am stoked to be headed for Shasta.  I am anticipating meeting Joshua and Lisa Francis and working side by side with them for a week. It Will Be AWESOME!!!!!

This morning as I spent time with God I was reading from John 20:24-29 and was struck by the challenge that we all have times in our life where we are doubting or questioning God.  We need to see it to believe it.  Thomas was desiring to believe that Jesus was alive and yet he wanted to see it.

Please pray for me in the next week as I lead this team that I will be trusting God in order that I am seeing with His eyes and moving with His purpose rather than moving and seeing through my own ability.  Pray that as a team we are willing to step out in faith and move when we sense the Spirit directing.  Ask Jesus to give us wisdom beyond our own ability and years and pray that His will and purpose will be accomplished through the entirety of our team.  Please also pray for safety in travel.

We will update this regularly over the next week or two so please check back for updates, prayer requests and pics of our trip.

    Pursuing Glory For Jesus,

    Pastor Dave

  • Anticipating Shasta CA

CoolWow we leave in just over two weeks and I have not updated the blog since April.  Sorry, I am quite new to this blog thing even though it has been around for years.

We are so excited to be going to Shasta CA.  Shasta Community Church is hosting us and Joshua and Lisa Francis and little 5month old Eden are the Youth Pastor and family that we are working side by side with.  Joshua is crazy busy as he works a full time secular job and then serves part time at the church and also goes to school.  Please pray for the Francis family that they would be refreshed and encouraged through our team as we minister with them.

Also pray that God would use our team to represent Shasta Community Church in powerful and lasting ways for the one short week we are there.  As we serve in the community may people see Shata Community Church as a Beacon for Hope and encouragement and the Love of Jesus.

Lastly I would encourage you to check out our blog regularly for the next three weeks as we will be faithful to update it regularly and hopefully daily throughout our trip.

God Bless you and Thanks For your prayers and support.

    Dave Anderson
