Our last stop at Starbucks in Great Falls. As we departed Simms and the Sun River Valley, there is a sense of loss as we leave our new friends. We started some really great relationships with individual people and the entire communities that we served in. God has worked mightily in us this week and we are looking forward to coming home and continuing His work in our community.
Thank you for your prayers and your support and we look forward to sharing our trip with you in Worship on June 12. We will update this blog again later today or tomorrow as we debrief in Spokane and will arrive back in Chehalis Sunday evening.
God Bless,
Pastor Jeff
Our week has been tremendous, but not without struggles. We started the trip with 26 of us and are now down to 19 because of some of the needed early departures. The Summers safely arrived in Billings area and the Rouschs are on their way back to Washington as I type.
Overall the week has been great, we have made many new friends both teens and adults. We have been involved with three great churches that have been very supportive and greatful for what we are here doing.
Be in prayer for tonights last club get together with the teens in Simms and then we head back towards Spokane tomorrow morning after breakfast.
Thanks for your prayers,
Pastor Jeff
Hey! This is Emily. This week has been so much fun. I can't beleive that its almost over. I was woking at the VBS in Ulm this week during the mornings. The kids were always so excited and happy to be there. They were so nice and most of the time did what they were told to do. I'm going to miss them sooooo much!
During the evenings we went over to the softball feild to hang out with the local teens and share our faith with them. I've gotten to know quite a few of them and they are all really cool people. I'll also be sad to leave them too. Although we'll be gone, I pray that the teens we've come in contact with will get to know God more throughout their lives.
Hey from Montana!
This is Bekah, Dana, Justin and Tye coming from you in a starbucks in Great Falls.
Tye: I've been working on the service project in Simms. We spent monday putting together a dozen computer tables and cleaning up the library. Tuesday and today we have been working in the middle school in Sun River, a few miles down the road. We have been taking down lockers and cleaning out classrooms. we will finish moveing lockers and transporting them to the highschool tomorow. In working with the supt. of the Simms School district we are improving the relationship between the church in Simms and the school and hopefully our cooperation will help Pastor Rod and Debbie in the future. Working together has also built up the relationships with the boys of the team.
Bekah and Dana: hmmm where to begin... the trip so far may have been short in time and length but definately not short on spiritual chaos and emotions. Not to say it's been a painful and difficult experience- really it hasn't. VBS has been going well, the work crews are getting a lot done, and we 're learning a lot about ourselves and our relationships with christ in our own hearts (ironic we had to come all the way to Montana to learn this, don't ya think!?!) The trip has been going well so far on the outreach side of things, but within the team it has become apparent that Satan is trying to break us down...A lot of stressfull thingshave happened- a grandmother to 4 team members passing away, 3 people not feeling well, a new life direction for one girl, and the possible being dropped from admission to college for myself (dana, and all when i thought my future was set in stone about going to school this fall and to find out what i thought was going to happen might not). And this is just to mention a few. I think the reason Satan is working so hard is because he knows our team is strong and he wants to tear us down. Last night he tried really hard to tear our girls appart but let me tell you: God has made us stronger and brought us through it all. In the end made, it's made us closer and stronger, and ready to get his work done and his word out. We can't let Satan win. Please pray for us as he will continue to fight and try to tear us apart. With God's help we are getting through. =) thanks for the prayer and support back home! With much love, God bless! from bekah and dana!!
Most of the Team was running out of gas last night and today so we took the afternoon off and had a much needed nap time. We are looking forward to attending youth group with some of our new friends and even bringing some new students from Simms with us to Fort Shaw Bible Church tonight. we are re-energized to finish out the week.
Be in prayer for our team, and Simms Community Church. Satan is ticked and we are feeling a bit attacked. It has mostly been in our relationships and most have already been worked through with communication and prayer. Simm Community Church has also been in battle this week as they have been working to try and reach more for Christ.
Also today, the Summers Family departed from Simms for Laurel, near Billings, Mt. Tammy's Grandmother passed away Monday night and they headed east today for the funeral later in the week. Be in prayer for their family during this time and for Eric as he drives from Chehalis to Laurel later this week.
Thank you for all your prayers,
Pastor Jeff
This is Chelsy. Vbs is so much fun I am doing crafts with Bekah and Denver. Yesterday we just did coloring and made bags for them to put their crafts in. We have singing, and dancing, games and stories. We had 12 people the first day and the today we had about 17. I had two kids with me I forgot their names but they are super cute and super nice they both gave me their coloring pics to keep for i can remember them and they both gave me hugs.
This is Denver we had alot of fun yesterday with meeting all the new people but even more fun today cause we got to know everyone alot better. There was this two year old named Jace and it was a hand full with him calling me names and throwing beads everywhere but over all he is a good kid.
