  • Amazing how God has worked in our Youth...

      Hello All LSCC Folk,

We are really doing well here in Cascade... some bumps and bruises, not bad though.  I have really been impressed how these young men and woman have stepped up to tell the youth here in Caascade about Jesus.  I have also witnessed God at work in really changing some hardened hearts in our own youth.  Many stories will be shared about sleep walking, failed attempts to prank each other, sleepless nights and of course the great things that happened on a daily basis.  As we head into our last night of out reach, we are looking to see some baptisims happen.  I for one am getting a little home sick missing my family and my own bed!!  Looking forward to getting both Cambridge and Cascade teams back together on Saturday for our debrief in Lewiston.  As I am trying to finish this message Brayden M. asked if he can smim during Braden D's baptisim.... He meant before or afterwards of course!  Love to all and see you soon!  Welcome back to the C. R. Team can't wait to hear all your stories!! Cool  Kevin T.

  • Happy Birthday Riley!

Wish I could be there on your B-day but I need to finish the work here. You know one year from now you'll be over here in one of these mission trips. I have no problem seeing you taking on the hard work or the Spiritual stretching that occurs on these trips. But I am thinking about you and looking forward to seeing you on Sunday. From Dad

  • You Have The MOST AMAZING KIDS!!

You can be so proud of your kids.  They are just the best in everyway.  They have been faced with some pretty awkward, difficult, and patience building situations, and everytime they just blow me away with their rsponse.  They have sought to honor God in every way by serving each other, this community and Jesus.  Each day I see huge steps of faith as they share Christ really share with the students here in Cambridge.  They have invited them to share many, many hours of their day, they have shared their stories of coming to trust Jesus as Saviour and Lord.  It has blessed me so much to witness the work of Christ in their lives, the amazing work he has had.  I wish you all could witness it as well, but know that you would have smiles on your faces to see the way in which your kids have gone about this week.  They have held each other accountable, have called each other to live bolder, run the race and leave the past behind.  It has been awesome to see, a reak joy.  I feel priviledged to be here and support the work they are doing.

Today the service projects were interesting.  There was more weed whacking at the leisure resort, and "weeding " the ponds.  I came around a corner on a golf cart only to see Amanda Edwards thigh deeep in the middle of a pond with two huge clumps of gross, green, slimy pond scum in her hands.  I could not help but laugh.  She said she was having fun, you have to love that attitude!  Jaida and I rode around in a golf cart while she sprayed weeds in a huge RV lot, from the cart. Pretty fun job actually.  Others were loading and then stacking wood for a second day and there will be more of that.

The girls took of to McCall for some time to "gel" as a team.  We had lunch at the pancake house, spent some time sharing positive characteristics we had noticed about each other on the mission trip and just spending time hanging out a bit in the town.  It was a good time and they are just the BEST, so glad this world has Tori Whitten, Amanda Edwards, Jaida D'Abson and Victoria Leonard in it!

We then went to a amazing BBQ at the leisure park cooked by the people there we had been working for.  So very nice of them and so delicious!

The outreach was great!  Paul Loranger and Brayden Miller shared there stories and I know many students related and were encouraged by them.  More worship, and then Brayden Deidrick gave a talk about Jesus multiplying the loves and fish, concluding that God can use small things for greatness!  I LOVE seeiing these students lead it is the best!!!!!!

Please pray for impact in the lives of the Cascade students, that they would find hope in Jesus!!!!  Pray for our students that each day they would have greater joy to share Christ.  Please pray for leaders for wisdom in every situation.

Oh, the guys went white water rafting, and Tory Chandler did hit his foot, there is a bit of swelling and it is sore.  He is icing it and taking motrin.

It is latre now and sleep is something we have not had enough of so I am off to get some!  Thanks for the prayers!

  • Bread and Water

    Hello there!

    Today was interseting day for all of us...So to explain I'm going to try to do this in order;

For community service I had to rake up gross, smelly, black/green mossy grass stuff that smells worse then seaweed. Then we hanged around the chruch, just chillin' and what-not. And then for lunch me and the girls went down to McCall and ate at the 'Pancake House.' Amanda got an advacado chesseburger which was just about as big, if not bigger, then her head. Victoria got two plate size chocolate chip pancakes. Tori got good 'ol chicken strips while Dawn got a BLT and I got a #8; hasbrowns, bacon, eggs, and toast. The Pancake House has some AMAZING hot coco, Amanada, Victoria and I all got some, and man did it hit the spot. Oh yeah, the Pancake House was FREEZING COLD!!!!!!! But they have some of the best french fries EVER. They were cripsy on the outside, potato-y on the inside, and really warm. There's a "Christmas House" thats attached to the other House, so we browsed the Christmas things, and I now have a birthday list~

    BOOMARANNNNG-----Racoon Hat----HARMONICAA---Sheep skin things!!!

'Cause sheep skin is. The. Softest. Stuff. On. Earth.

Other then Tori's hair 'cause thats like cashmireee~ (i don't know how she does it.....)

Then we walked around a bit then headed back. At the chruch we learned that the guys went White Water Rafting, and came back with sore-ness and cuts. Then also flipped over a couple of times too.. Then we all went over to "Lesurie Time Rv Park" for a bbq diiner~ Poor Ivy got wet 'cause these two little kids kept getting her with water from their water bottles. Fun fun. <3

After that we hanged around the field in the back of the school for some dogeball, both team and every-man-for-himself. I, as of today, have NINE moqusito bites... But only one of them iches 'cause Paul almost killed me with a wheelchair...

'Cause I asked him if he'd push me to the bathroom so I can clean my green and brown feet, but apperently in the middle of pushing me he let go, which I had not known. So I ran into some glass and a door... But don't worry, I'm fine, no stuck glass or anything, the door got a little chiped though...

    So, thats my day..

    Oh, wait, nevermind.

Tori and Victoria wanted to take showers today, and Dawn left them behind. And did they freak out? Yes. Did they get p-o'ed? Yes. Did they call Dawn and left a very weird message? Yes. Did I just laugh at the whole thing? Yes, yes I did.

I feel so lonley now 'cause all the girls are out taking showers, while I sit here and blog.. But it's ok 'cause I'm about the kick the guys butts in four-square.

Wish us luck and please continue praying for us and the other teams!!

(FAMILY: IS IT OK IF ME MOVE TO CASCADE SO I DON'T HAVE TO PART FROM THESE BEAUTIFYL PEOPLE?!?!?!)

  • Amanda was waste deep in a muddy swamp.

So.. interesting day. For community service we were asked to rake up the nasty sea weed and mossy stuff from this pond. The raking was hurting my knee so I just took off my knee brace and jumped in. So, for a couple of hours I was walking around in slimyness.... It was so fun!! I was covered in mud and it was awesome. Then, for lunch the girls went to McCall and I definitely ate a burger as big as my head. Then later I shugged a bottle of water in less than 10 seconds trying to prove a point to Josh. I don't feel my best. lol Anyway, now some of us are off to get some showers! Please be praying for me as I will be giving the message tomorrow to lots of kids. Thanks everyone! Love you all!

  • the sequel to the sleepwalker

Hey, (nathan) scroggins here, wanted to give everyone an update. Last night Josh had another episode of the sleepwalk, but he wasn't the only one this time. One of out leaders, Kevin Thompson woke up to find someone laying on the floor. The person then got up and walked to the bathroom, walking into things along the way. A few minutes later this person came back a went back into the room the guys are sleeping in. 20 minutes after that however, Josh came out and fell on the floor. He then flopped around a bit and then sat up. Kevin told him to go back to bed, which is exactly what he did.

We don't know who the "first" sleepwalker (the guys say that josh sleepwalked a while before this all happened so technically the person wasn't the first one), But Kevin said he was taller than Josh but shorter then Paul. Everyone believes I did it, but we can't be too sure.

  • Hola to all from Costa Rica

Miss you all! I hope you are all having an amazing time in Idaho. We have endured many obstacles, heat, completing projects with minimal supplies, exhaustion, sicknesses, sleeping and showering with the creepy critters of the land and language barriers, but God has provides for us as I know He will provide for you. We have been praying for your team and I pray God opens your eyes and softens your hearts to experience all that He has planned for you to experience on your mission trip.  I pray you experience God like we have in Costa Rica.  Love Orena

  • BUNNY BUNNY BUNNY BUNNY

Wow. Today was a little less relxed then yesterday, but still relaxed in a way. Most of us got up late, like yesterday, but more late. Breakfast was nice, good 'ol bacon and eggs. My group then went to "Lesuire Time" RV park and washed the windows. The lady that lives there let us make and eat chocolate rice crispys!!! They were made within 5 minutes. Then we all had some free time, with included some games of ERS, naps, War, Speed, and some Jet Tea's.

Side note: Jet Tea DOESN'T taste like tea, its called jet tea 'cause there's green in it, and it's more like an icee mixed with smoothie texture.

I have realized I cannot play smash face without hitting someone... >:(

So, I've really connected to the people here, and hope to help them with some things if I can <3

So, please pray for us to keep our goals in sight, not lose faith, and to keep helping others~

Family: Love you guys! Doing great over here, hope you guys haven't burned down the house w/out me!! :)

  • Tuesday Afternoon

Yesterday was a hard day both physically and spiritually.  We did a lot of physical labor in the morning in the hot sun, but the students worked through it until it was complete.  Very proud of how they work and some of them work very hard and a great example to the rest.  you can be proud of your kids!  Please ignore the typos, this is not my laptop and I am not going to take time to correct all as there is not a lot of time.  Last night's outreach was smaller but in now way less of an impact.  The students played frisbee football, and smashface, Victoria Leonard and Brayden Deidrick gave their testimonies, both doing a great job!  We came back to the church and had worship together with youth from Cascase and Brandon Miller taught about Gideon being a mighty warrior.  He did a GREAT job and we loved how he brought it home to those here in Cascade how God comes along the small and makes them mighty!

afterward we held our own time of worship again in a circle.  Kyle taught from Eph. 4:25-5:2.  We had been struggling with disunity and factions, and it was time for it to stop.  We asked the kids to reflect on this passage, and then if they had issues with anyone to go and settle things now. One by one kids got up and talked with eachother, some taking just a few minutes others much longer, we ended with more worship in a more powerful and meaning way.  We finished with family groups and then more insane rounds of E.R.S and competitive foursquare.  A VERY competitive bunch is here in Cascade but they really enjoy that in eachother.  Paul Loranger has used his phone to do some"instant replays" of E.R.S. to settle some "slap" disputes :) !

We have been praying for unity among the LSCC youth as we all sensed some spiritual warfare early on.  You could join us in praying for this.  So much spiritual ground can be gainned on mission trips along with the outreach.  May God have glory in all this and His victory seen.

To further unite kids they did a "servant lunch" and prepered each others lunch and then fed a partner.  Awkward yes, but brought out the point of working together despite awkward situations, they can be overcome!

We have been very thankful for the staff her in Cascade they are awesome and have fully supported us and the outreach here.  Thank God for them along with us, and pray that there work here in Cascade brings deep and prosperous fruit.

Today our service projects consisted of weedwhacking the edges of ponds in a leisure park, pretty messy stuff!  Breaking down boxes at an elderly couples house, and spraying a walking path with weed killer, waswhing huge windows at theb leisure park as well.

Right now the students are having some down time before we have pizza at "Rios" in town, purchased by the church for us.

We wask specifically for prayer for the youth of Cascade, that they would see Christ as HOPE for every circumstance, and for their personal eternal hope.  Amanda Edwards gives her testimony tonight along with Josh Simmons, after a town photo scavanger hunt.

Please pray also for cont. unity for the students, endurance for the leaders and wisdom for each situation.  God is good in all His ways and we see His immediate answers to prayer so we thank you!

Dawn (on behalf of all here)

  • Josh is talking. Listen.

Hey everybody its Josh sayin hey. giving a shoutout to my parents and family, Im still alive and well, having a great time in cascade. Theres probably something alreadt posted on this but I am the sleepwalker, Two nights ago (according to everybody in the boys room, i dont remember a thing) I got out of bed, still asleep, and ran into a wall. Afterwards i promptly marched across the room a faceplanted. And that was just the first time. Next I had strange dreams and talked in my sleep among other things. Im guessing it was because i took too much tylenol. Never doing that again. Anyways, other than that Im having a great time hanging with the guys and doing community service. So far we've had no injuries or deaths, although Amanda did drink caffene and almost had her heart pop out of her chest, but it was over in about an hour. Well thats all i have to say, keep praying for us and we'll all be home safe...I hope.
