We (most of us) took a hike to see the sun rise this morning! Beautiful! Psalm 19 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Check out the pictures below.
Yesterday, we went to Whiskey Town, probably the most beautiful lake I have ever seen! Clear water, perfect temperature and lots of activity! It was lake day with the congregation. We had a motor boat, kayak, canoe and pontoon boat. Needless to say, we got sun burned and are wiped out!
Today we were tourists in Redding. Having lunch at In and Out and seeing the Sun Dial Bridge! We are cleaning and resting and will have a closing ceremony tonight.
Heads up to parents. We will adventure into God's forest of the Redwoods. We don't expect to land into Kent until midnight. Sorry, but these forests are magnificent and we are just so close not to take the time to visit!
We have been blessed by this community, their generosity, and hospitality. Romans 12:13.
(Youthmark Admin NOTE: The team accidentally posted in the "about us" section. Issue corrected and that post is now seen below):
Wow, one of our goals is to bring into our group anyone who wants to come. Just like Jesus did...One of the great kids here expressed his thanks that we have come to Igo, (during Family time). It can be a vunerable time, sharing our day and what the Bilble, Gods' Word is telling us.
The past few days have been a lot of fun, and work! Today is Wednesday and we had a Carnival...Clara, Pastor Ed's wife had the ideas and the materials and we decorated, created and ran the tables! BUT in the morning we "bucked bale". We took bales of hay and moved them from one ranch to another. Each bale weighs about 60/70 pounds! The kids were fantastic! It is hard work! We again appreciate the labor of our farmers and ranchers! After lunch, sloppy joes, yum, we went to Eric's house and had a swim in his pool that over looked the mountains and valley of God's beautiful earth. The people here are so warm, kind and lovin Jesus! It's a very eclectic group of people!
So tomorrow we go to Whisky Creek/lake and play. Members of Igo congregation are meeting us there and we expect to have a lot of new experiences! God is so good! His provision, His mighty hand. going before all the details.
We read Romans 12 last night and Psalm 51 tonight!!! Enjoy the pictures. Berit
Joy: This week so far has been an amazing time. It makes me not want this week to end, we have had a bunch of town kids come up to the church and we have got to know everyone so much. Surprisingly we came at the churches "Week 'O' Fun". Each day they do something at the church, and anyone can come! Yesterday we had a Minute to Win it game challenge and so many kids came up and played with us. Even kids that this church has never see before! We hope they can come back and join us for the other days of the "Week "O" Fun".
Our service project yesterday was clearing lily pads from a pond, clearing rocks from a swimming hole, "dead heading" flowers, cleaning screens for a beautiful couple that were both teachers, now retired. Today we build the benches for the church, with money provided by Thrivent! Praise God, and thank you Thrivent! Lasts night "family time", we thought about Paul and Barnabas being sent out to a new church in Antioch, teaching new believers and sharing the Gospel (Acts 11). This church is a Village Mission church and Pastor Ed and family are starting their 5th year. They are missionaries, life missionaries...hmm...God bless this church and congregation. Enjoy some of the pictures...Shooting stars, Millky Way, the boys slept outside.God's creations in the sky are magnificent! Tonight is Community Dinner night. Berit
WOW, what a day...I will get the kids to write...but we are off to sleep.
Our day started out with a great sermon from Pastor Ed. This was "end of the month" and communion Sunday...so they mix up the order of the service...which of course, is all mixed up to us! Fun singing and quitar playing by the "jug band"! What I want to remember is how Pastor Ed opened up his sermon. Talking about how your kids attitude was so good! They could have been cranky from spending 15 hours in transit...but no..he saw them as shining the light of Christ! Your kids have come all this distance to shine the light of Christ:)
Let us not forget the detail when we shared the bread and wine! We need to REALLY remember what Christ did for us, DO THIS IN REMEBRANCE OF ME! Very powerful. God honoring. 1 Corinthians 11:27...check it out.
Our event today, was an Ice Cream Social with the community of IgoOno, or is it Ono Igo, starting at 4pm. Music, ice cream and lots of people! I will post some of the pictures tomorrow! Water balloon volleyball...try it, we'll show you how!
Tomorrow we will help "build a dam" in a pond and move rock. The evening activity will be Minute to win it! Tuesday is the "usual" community Pot Luck Dinner night. Wednesday is "Carnival" and Thursday day we go to a lake. Friday so far is free.
Part of the scripture lesson today thru "road grip" is warning us to stay focused on our Lord! This is His work, it's not about us, give God the glory!
Pastor Ed, Clara, Paul, May, Luke and David are fabulous hosts! Thank you Buzz and Brian (Youthmark)...keep you posted. Lovin the heat! No rain! Lot's of stars!
Little van trouble..4 hours later! Romans 5....we rejoice in our sufferings (reallly not so bad) producing endurance, character and hope...
No really all was pretty easy. Everyone had a great attitude! We are here in Igo and have met Pastor Ed! Can't wait to met his family and his congregation!
Good night, thank you God for getting us here and going before all the details!
Saturday morning, July 30th, 15 people will caravan down the I-5 corridor to Igo, California. Igo, is west of Redding, in Northern California, google it!
God has been so faithful to provide chaperones, kids, time and of course the finances! It's not hard to see God's hand working in all of this!
We have been given so much, we are so grateful for the opportunity to share our love for Christ.
The community of Igo is getting ready for us! Pray that we are winsome witnesses!
In Christ,
Berit
We are going to Ono-Igo Community Church in northern California! Yep! Ono-Igo! I googled the location and the website! Can't wait to meet the community! Please pray we finish our preparation! Pray for hearts to soften to see the mighty hand of our Lord orchestrating our lives!
This blog tells the story of the NorCal Mission for Zion Lutheran Church of Kent. Thanks for your prayers!
